जागीरदारनी

जब हम छोटे बच्चे हुआ करते थे, तब हमारी आमा एक कहानी सुनाया करती थी, कहती थी पूर पहाड़ में उई ऐकली स्याणी छी, जो जागीरदारनी छी,बाकि जागीरदार तो बैगे ( पुरुष ) छी तब।

आमा बताती की वो बहुत बहादुर महिला ओर धर्म परायण थी, उसकी अपनी कुलदेवी में असीम आस्था थी , उसकी जागीर कई गाँवो तक फैली हुईं थी, दो नदियों के बीच का पूरा इलाका उसके अधीन था, जहाँ से वो लगान वसूलती ओर आगे राजा को भिजवा देती।

आमा बताती थी की वो हमेशा गहनों से लदी रहती थी ओर  खूबसूरत होने के साथ साथ बेहद दयालु भी थी,उसके इलाके में अगर कोई कष्ट में होता तो वो खुद वहाँ जाकर उसकी सहायता करती थी,इस कारण उसकी जागीर के अन्तर्गत आने वाले इलाके के लोग खुशहाल थे, पूरे राज्य में उस जागीदारनी का काफी नाम था।

हम आमा से कहते थे आमा उस जमाने में जब सारे जागीरदार पुरुष ही हुआ करते थे तो वो एकमात्र स्त्री जागीरदार कैसे बनी, तब आमा बताती यो ले जोरदारक किस्स छ, उ जमान में राजाओंक राज छी, एक बार राजक सेनापति गों बैठी सेना दगड जाण छी, बाट में नौव छी, उ नौव में जागीरदारनी पाणी भरने छी, सेनापति घोड कं तीस लागे ओर सेनापति घोड ली बेर सीध नौव भीतर ली जाण लागो, तब जागीरदारनी ली उ कें टोकते हुये को, याँ बैठि हम गौ वाव पाणी पीनू , तुम अपण घोड कें भ्यार बनी डिग्गी में पाणी पिवा लियो, 

ये सुनते ही सेनापति नाराज होकर गुस्से में बोला , मेरा घोडा नौव के अंदर जाकर ही पानी पियेगा, देखता हूँ कौन रोकता है, आमा ने आगे बताया की जागीरदारनी ने ऐसा करने से मना किया ओर कहा मेरे होते हुये, तुम तो क्या, इस इलाके का राजा भी नौले के भीतर ले जाकर अपने घोड़े को पानी नही पिला सकता, पानी पिलाना है तो बाहर पिला लो, जहाँ सब जानवर पीते हैं।

इस बात पर सेनापति क्रोधित हो गया ओर जैसे ही घोड़े को लेकर नौले के अंदर जाने लगा, जागीरदारनी ने घोड़े को उठा कर बाहर फेंक दिया, सब जागीरदारनी की ताकत देख हतप्रभ रह गये, खिसियाये सेनापति ने गुस्से में आकर जागीरदारनी पर वार करना चाहा तो उसे भी उठा कर फेंक दिया, सेनापति की दुर्दशा देख, सैनिकों ने जागीरदारनी पर हमला कर दिया, पर जागीरदारनी ने अकेले ही उन्हें मार कर भगा दिया।

जब इलाके के राजा को ये बात पता लगी तो, उसने जागीरदारनी को राजदरबार में बुलवाया, राजा ये देखना चाहता था की वो स्त्री कैसी है, जिसने सेनापति ओर उसकी सेना को अकेले हरा दिया।

जागीरदारनी अपने पति को लेकर राजदरबार में पहुँच गई, राजा ने जब उसे देखा तो उसे विश्वास ही नही हुआ की, मासूम ओर सरल सी दिखने वाली इस स्त्री ने उसके सेनापति को अकेले हरा दिया, दरबार में बैठे अन्य लोग भी विश्वास नही कर पा रहे थे की, इस स्त्री ने सेनापति को हराया है।

राजा ने उस स्त्री से पूछा की तुमने मेरे सेनापति ओर उसकी सेना को अकेले कैसे हरा दिया ,ओर साथ में ये भी कहा की यहाँ का राजा भी नौले का पानी नही पिला सकता, तब उस स्त्री ने कहा हे राजा हमारे गाँव के इस नौले को सबसे ज्यादा पवित्र स्थान माना जाता है ,यहाँ हमारी कुलदेवी का स्थान भी है, इसके चलते प्राचीन समय से ही गाँव ने कुछ नियम बना रखे हैं, जिसका पालन सारे लोग करते आये हैं, आपके सेनापति ने उस परंपरा को तोड़ने का प्रयास किया तब मैनें उससे कहा की तुम तो क्या, इस इलाके का राजा भी अपने घोड़े को यहाँ पानी नही पिला सकता।

ये बात सुनकर राजा बोला क्या तुम मुझे भी रोक दोगी पानी पिलाने से, तब स्त्री बोली हे राजा, नियम सबके लिये समान रूप से बने हैं, आप भी उसी नियम के अन्तर्गत ,अपने घोड़े को वहाँ पानी नही पिला सकते, अगर आप पिलायेंगे तो आपको भी मुझे मजबूर होकर रोकना होगा।

राजा उसकी दृढ़ता पूर्वक कही बात सुनकर चौंक गया, उसने उस स्त्री से कहा, क्या तुम्हें मालूम है, मैं चाहूँ तो तुम्हें इसी वक़्त कैद करवा सकता हूँ, ये बात सुनकर वो स्त्री निडरता पूर्वक बोली, मैं अपने राजा के आदेश पर यहाँ अपना पक्ष रखने आई हूँ ना की आपके द्वारा कैद होने, मैनें जो भी किया अपनी परंपरा की रक्षा के लिये किया, ओर आपके सेनापति के साथ जो हुआ, वो नियमों का उल्लंघन के कारण हुआ, इसलिए बिना गलती के कैद होना मेरे लिये संभव नही है, इसलिए हे राजा आप ये प्रयास ना करें, क्योकिं बिना गलती के कैद होना मेरे लिये संभव नही है, इसके लिये मुझे कुछ भी करना पड़े मैं करूँगी, इसलिए हे राजा ऐसा कदापि न करें।

राजा स्त्री की बात सुन कर सन्न रह गया के, उसी के दरबार में उसे एक स्त्री ये कह रही थी की आप मुझे कैद नही कर सकते ,ये एक राजा के लिये असहनीय बात थी, उसने तत्काल उस स्त्री को कैद करने का आदेश दिया, जैसे ही सैनिक कैद करने के लिये आगे बढ़े, उस स्त्री ने विकराल रूप धारण कर लिया, वो सैनिकों पर टूट पड़ी ,सारे दरबार में अफरातफरी मच गई, भूखी शेरनी की तरह वो स्त्री सैनिकों झपट कर उन्हें पराजित कर रही थी, राजा हतप्रभ सा देखते रह गया, सैनिकों की हालत देख उसने तत्काल युद्ध रुकवाया ओर स्त्री को बोला, आप तो साक्षात रणचंडी हैं, मैं धन्य हुआ की मेरे राज्य में आप जैसी वीर देवी हैं।

युद्ध रोकने के बाद राजा ने उस स्त्री का सम्मान किया ओर उसे बडी जागीर देकर जागीरदार की पदवी प्रदान की, तब से वो जागीरदारनी कहलाने लगी।

Vassal

 When we were young children, our grandmother used to tell the story of a Vassal, saying that she was the only woman in the  mountain who was the Vassal, the rest of the Vassal were men then.

 Grandmother would tell that she was a very brave woman and religious, she had immense faith in her own Kuldevi, her  Vassal was spread to many villages, the entire area between the two rivers was under her, from where she collected the rent and sent it to the king.

 Grandmother used to tell that she was always laden with ornaments and was very kind as well as being beautiful, if anyone in her area was in trouble, she herself used to go there and help her, due to this the people of the area under her vassal The people were happy, that  Vassal had a lot of name in the whole state.

 We used to tell grandmother, grandmother in those days when all the vassals used to be men, then how did she become the only woman vassal, then grandmother would tell that she was also a strong story, in that era there was the rule of kings, once the king  The commander was going from the village with the army, there was a place to fill water on the way, the Vassal was filling water in it, the commander's horse got thirsty, and the commander started going straight inside that place with the horse.  Then the  Vassal interrupted him and said, from here we villagers fill drinking water, you give water to your horse in the cistern outside.

 On hearing this, the commander got angry and said in anger, my horse will drink water only after going inside, I will see who stops

 Grandmother further told that the Vassal refused to do this and said that despite me, what about you, even the king of this area cannot give water to his horse by taking it inside the well, if you want to drink water, then drink it outside, where everyone  Animals drink, the commander got angry on this matter and as soon as he started going inside with the horse, the vassal lifted the horse and threw it out, everyone was shocked to see the power of the vassal, the gleeful general got angry and attacked the vassal.  If he wanted to pick him up and threw him, seeing the plight of the commander, the soldiers attacked the  Vassal ,but the  Vassal alone killed them and drove them away.

 When the king of the area came to know about this, he called the Vassal to the court, the king wanted to see how the woman was, who defeated the commander and his army alone.

 The  Vassal reached the court with her husband, when the king saw him, he could not believe it, this innocent and simple looking woman defeated her commander alone, other people sitting in the court are also unable to believe  It was that this woman has defeated the commander.

 The king asked the woman that how did you defeat my commander and his army alone, and also said that even the king here cannot drink water from the Naula, then that woman said, O king, this Naula of our village  It is considered to be the most sacred place, here is the place of our Kuldevi, due to this, since ancient times, the village has made some rules, which have been followed by all the people, your commander tried to break that tradition.  I told him that what are you, even the king of this area cannot give water to his horse here.

 Hearing this, the king said, will you stop me from drinking water, then the woman said, O king, the rules are made equally for everyone, under the same rule, you cannot give water to your horse there, if you drink it  You must also force me to stop.

 The king was shocked to hear her strongly said, he said to the woman, do you know, if I want, I can get you imprisoned at this time, after hearing this, the woman said fearlessly, I will stand here on the orders of my king.  I have come to keep it and not to be imprisoned, whatever I did to protect my tradition, and what happened to your commander, it happened due to violation of rules, so it is not possible for me to be imprisoned without fault, so hey  King, do not try this, because it is not possible for me to be imprisoned without mistake, I will have to do anything for this, so O king, never do this.

 The king was stunned after listening to the woman, a woman was telling him in his court that you cannot imprison me, this was an unbearable thing for a king, he immediately ordered that woman to be imprisoned,  As soon as the soldiers proceeded to imprison, that woman took a formidable form, she broke down on the soldiers, there was chaos in the whole court, like a hungry lioness, the woman was swooping down and defeating the soldiers, the king was bewildered.  Seeing the condition of the soldiers, he immediately stopped the war and said to the woman, you are a real Ranchandi, I am blessed to have a heroic goddess like you in my kingdom.

 After stopping the war, the king respected the woman and gave her the title of vassal by giving her a large jagir, since then she came to be called Jagirdarni.
