सुषमा आज उन पुरानी यादों में खो गई थी, जब उसने गाँव की महिलाओं को इकट्ठा करके अपने काम की शुरुआत की थी।

सुषमा ने ना केवल अपनी जिंदगी बदल डाली, अपितु गाँव की महिलाओं सहित पूरे गाँव की किस्मत बदल डाली।

सुषमा के एक छोटे से प्रयास ने गाँव में ऐसा परिवर्तन ला दिया था की , वो आसपास के इलाकों के लिये प्रेरणा स्त्रौत बन कर उभर गई।

बात उन दिनों की है जब उत्तराखण्ड में ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों से पलायन लगातार बढ़ रहा था, गाँव के गाँव खाली होने की कगार पर पहुँच चुके थे, सुषमा का गाँव भी इससे अछूता नही था, गाँव के अधिसंख्य युवा रोजगार गाँवो में रोजगार ना मिलने के कारण रोजगार की तलाश में शहरों की ओर पलायन कर चुके थे ओर गाँव में अब बचे थे तो सिर्फ महिलाएं, बच्चें ओर बुजुर्ग ।

पलायन होने से गाँव सूना हो चला था ओर रात में तो भयावह सा ही हो जाता था, गाँव की इक्का दुक्का दुकानें भी , पलायन के चलते बंद होने की कगार पर पहुँच चुकी थी।

ये देख सुषमा बड़ी दुखी थी, उसने तो ऐसे माहौल की कल्पना भी नही की थी,वो चाहती थी की फिर से उसके गाँव की रौनक फिर से लौट आये, वो ये सोचती रहती थी की, ऐसा क्या किया जाये की , जिससे यहाँ के लोग बाहर ना जायें ,ओर उन्हें यही रोजगार मिल जाये।

उसने देखा की गाँव में कृषि व बागवानी रोजगार का अच्छा माध्यम बन सकता है ,बस जरूरत है थोड़े परिश्रम की, पर लोगों के पास जमीनें इकट्ठी ना होकर फैली हुई थी, उसने सोचा अगर सब गाँव वाले , अपनी अपनी जमीन मिला कर एक साथ मिलकर काम करे तो , एक तो उत्पादन ज्यादा होगा ओर दूसरा श्रम का बँटवारा होने से लोगों को मेहनत कम करनी पड़ेगी।

बस फिर क्या था सुषमा जुट गई लोगों को एक साथ मिल कर खेती करने के फायदे बताने में, कुछ लोगों ने सुनी ओर कुछ लोगों ने उसकी बात को अनसुना कर दिया, पर सुषमा ने अपना प्रयास जारी रखा, ओर धीरे धीरे कुछ लोग इसके लिये तैयार भी हो गये।

जब कुछ लोग तैयार हो गये तो सुषमा ने उन सबको साथ लेकर  एक बैठक करी, ओर सामूहिक खेती करने का शुभारम्भ कर दिया।

आगामी लगने वाली फसलों व सब्जियों को लगाने को लेकर बीज, खाद इत्यादि का पूरा विवरण बनाया ओर इस तरह से शुरू हुई, सुषमा का सोची  सामूहिक स्वरोजगार मुहिम।

सबने खूब मेहनत की ओर प्रतिफल में जमीन ने उन्हें खूब फसल दी, सब बहुत खुश थे, खाने के लायक उत्पाद रख लेने के बाद, बाकी उत्पादन को स्थानीय बाजार में बेच दिया गया, इससे सामूहिक खेती करने वालों को खाने लायक सामान भी मिल गया ओर पैसे की भी आय हो गई।

अब वो लोग भी रुचि दिखाने लगे जो पहले सुषमा की बात पर ध्यान नही देते थे, वो भी समूह से जुड़ कर अब खेती करना चाहते थे।

सुषमा ने उन्हें भी जोड़ लिया, इस तरह सुषमा के गाँव में सामूहिक खेती होने लगी, लोगों को आय भी होने लगी, धीरे धीरे सुषमा के समूह से आसपास के गाँवो के लोग भी जुड़ने लगे, ओर समूह ने विशाल आकार ले लिया। 

अब उत्पादन इतना बढ़ गया था के, बड़े खरीददार भी गाँव आने लगे, इस तरह से समूह को अच्छी आय होने लगी।

जब ये बात गाँव छोड़ कर नौकरी की तलाश में बाहर गये युवाओं को पता लगी तो, उनमें से कुछ लोग वापस गाँव लौट आये, जिससे गाँवो की रौनक लौटने लगी।

सुषमा का समूह अब इतना बड़ा हो चुका था की, उसने एक तरह से बड़े व्यापार का रूप ले लिया था, अब गाडियों भर भर के सामान बिकता था।

सुषमा ने समूह के उत्पादों को रखने के लिये एक बड़ा सा गोदाम बनवा लिया था, समूह का सारा काम अब वहीं से संचालित होता था।

अब सुषमा सहित गाँव के लोगों को इस बात का संतोष था की, अब लोग बाहर ना जा रहे, उल्टा बाहर गये लोग लौट कर यही रोजगार कर रहें हैं।

इस तरह सुषमा के वो दोनों सपने पूरे हो गये, जिसमें सुषमा चाहती थी की एक तो गाँव की रौनक लौट आये, दूसरा पलायन ना हो।

Sushma was lost in those old memories today, when she started her work by gathering the women of the village.

 Sushma not only changed her life, but changed the fortunes of the entire village including the women of the village.

 A small effort by Sushma brought such a change in the village that it emerged as a source of inspiration for the surrounding areas.

 It is about those days when the migration from rural areas was increasing in Uttarakhand, the villages had reached the verge of evacuation, Sushma's village was not even untouched by this, due to the lack of employment in the village's majority of youth employment.  They had migrated to cities in search of employment and now only women, children and elders were left in the village.

 Due to the migration, the village was deserted and at night it was a bit frightening, even a few shops in the village had reached the verge of closure due to migration.

 Sushma was very sad to see this, she had not even imagined such an atmosphere, she wanted to return to her village again, she kept thinking, what should be done so that people here  Do not go out, and they get the same employment.

 She saw that agriculture and horticulture could become a good medium of employment in the village, but only a little labor was required, but the people did not have the land to be gathered and spread, she thought if all the villagers, got their land together  If it works, one will have more production and second, due to the division of labor, people will have to reduce hard work.

 Just then what was Sushma trying to tell people the benefits of farming together, some people listened and some people ignored her, but Sushma continued her efforts, and slowly some people  They also got ready.

 When some people were ready, Sushma took a meeting with all of them, and started the mass farming.

 A complete description of seeds, manure, etc. was made for planting upcoming crops and vegetables, and thus began, Sushma's wildest collective self-employment campaign.

 Everyone rewarded the hard work, the land gave them a lot of harvest, everyone was very happy, after keeping the produce for food, the rest of the produce was sold in the local market, this also gave the mass cultivators food to eat.  And money was also earned.

 Now those people also started showing interest, who previously did not pay attention to Sushma, they also wanted to join the group and do farming.

 Sushma joined them as well, thus mass farming started taking place in Sushma's village, people started earning income, slowly people of the surrounding villages started joining Sushma's group, and the group took a huge shape.

 Now the production had increased so much that even big buyers started coming to the village, thus the group started earning a good income.

 When the youth came out in search of jobs after leaving the village, some of them returned to the village, which led to the return of the villages.

 Sushma's group had become so big that she had taken the form of big business in a way, now selling goods all over the trains.

 Sushma had built a big warehouse to keep the products of the group, all the work of the group was now run from there.

 Now the people of the village including Sushma were satisfied that now people are not going out, vice versa, people are returning and doing the same jobs.

 In this way, both of those dreams of Sushma were fulfilled, in which Sushma wanted that migrant peoples should return to the village, the other should not migration again .
